Holle Wlokas is a PhD Candidate at the Energy Research Centre (ERC) at the University of Cape Town. Holle worked for the ERC as research officer between 2010 and 2014 and holds a degree in Political Science from the Freie Universitaet in Berlin, Germany.
Her current PhD research investigates the institutional work associated with community benefit commitments and schemes established under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) programme in South Africa. Private renewable energy companies are engaged in her action research project, as well as governmental and civil society stakeholders.
In 2014, she received the SAWEA award for her academic contribution to the industry. She shares emerging findings in industry presentations, reports and academic publications. Holle is also a member of the working groups on community benefits in SAWEA and SAPVIA.
