Matthew Walton is an attorney with a BA.LLB degree from the University of Cape Town. He worked as a human rights lawyer at the Legal Resources Centre in Cape Town during the Apartheid years and left in 1994 to enter private practice servicing the legal needs of the NGO community.
Matthew specialises in the institutional governance and tax structure of NGO’s and in drawing up the various contracts they require. While he continues to undertake human rights cases in the field of housing, consumer protection and HIV/AIDS, he also does commercial work for profit entities.
Through his extensive work with impoverished communities, he is a leading expert on community trusts and trust deeds.
